ArborSystems Wedgle Direct-Inject Tree Injection System

Live demonstrations of ArborSystems fall Diplodia Tip Blight treatment for pines and conifers using the Wedgle Direct-Inject Tree Treatment System, their new ready-to-use systemic antibiotic direct-inject chemical line for ornamental trees, large woody shrubs and palms and their new Pointle Palm Injection Tip will be on display at the ArborSystems, Inc. of Omaha, Neb. exhibit during the GIE+EXPO October 23 – 25 at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville, Ky. (Exhibit #6013) and TCI Expo November 14 - 16 at the Charlotte Convention Center in Charlotte, N.C. (Exhibit #909).

“Hands-on demonstrations for arborists, urban foresters and tree care professionals will be available for our new line of chemicals and tips that work in delivering fast and effective treatment at a known dose rate with virtually no environmental exposure associated with foliage spray, soil injection or drenching,” said Chip Doolittle, president of ArborSystems. “You can treat Diplodia Tip Blight using our tree injection system and ArborSystems Shepherd Fungicide through November, as long as the outside temperature is above 45 degrees.”

Pine and conifer treatment for Diplodia Tip Blight, a fungus disease, can be made anytime during the growing season. The fall treatments provide a carry over to the following year giving a minimum of 12-month preventative and curative protection. The fungicide should be in the leaf before it emerges and is infected. Treatment in the fall allows the chemical to move up into the tree before the tree shuts down for the winter and the leaves drop. Next spring, there is still product in the buds and the leaves are protected when they come out.

The new antibiotic line has two chemical products for trunk injection treatment that provides seasonal suppression for a variety of diseases. Terrier Antibiotic is available in 120 ml and 1000 ml Quick-Connect Chemical Packs and treats Bacterial Leaf Scorch in Elm, Oak, Sycamore, Oleander and Sweet Gum trees; Fire Blight in Mountain Ash trees; Ash Yellows in Ash trees; and Phloem Necrosis in Elm trees (also called Elm Yellow). A 120 ml pack treats approximately 20 trees with a 12” DBH. Preventative applications are more effective than suppressive treatment in trees showing disease symptoms. Springer Antibiotic is available in 1000 ml Quick-Connect Chemical Packs and is for seasonal suppression of lethal yellow disease in palms. It can be used anytime during the growing season. A 1000 ml pack treats approximately 25 palms with a 12” DBH. Both contain Oxytetracycline Hydrochloride.

The 3” Pointle Palm Injection Tip, a new quick-connect injection tip for ArborSystems Wedgle Direct-Inject Tree Treatment System, has a pointed end that aids the tip in getting into the palm. The chemical ports are recessed to minimize plant material from clogging the tip. The tip design was developed to penetrate a palm’s outer husk and deliver chemical into the inner active layers. The ArborSystems Tip Setter is used to set and remove the Pointle Palm Injection Tip. Some palms require a starter or pilot hole to be drilled so injection tips can be easily inserted through the husk. The Pointle Palm Injection Tip is available separately or in a kit that includes the tip, tip setter, tip cleaning and storage container, instruction guide and rugged case.

“Tree trunk injections are a tree-friendly way to treat trees and plants by tree, turf and ornamental specialists and are people friendly too,” said Doolittle. “Children and pets are not exposed to chemical spray or open chemical containers and there is no need to cover outdoor toys, play equipment, pools, furniture or vehicles.”

The Wedgle is a no-drill tree treatment system -- an easy, fast and tree-friendly way to treat almost any tree in five minutes or less and does not require waiting for the uptake of chemicals, guarding during the draining process, power or pumps.

ArborSystems chemicals are used with their Direct-Inject Tree Injection System as an injection into the flare or base of the tree to ensure even distribution through the tree’s vascular system for treatment of insects, pests and diseases. It places the chemical deep into the active areas where it can be easily absorbed. Chemicals are delivered fast and effectively at a known dose rate with virtually no environmental exposure associated with foliage spray, soil injection or drenching,

It is the only tree trunk injection application method that does not require a drilled hole. ArborSystems no-drill method is similar to getting a small scratch or vaccine that heals quickly versus drilling which is comparable to a cut that requires stitches and can be prone to infections. This approach protects trees from further stress and allows trees to put their full energy into recovery.

ArborSystems’ product line also includes Pointer Insecticide that treats Emerald Ash Borer, Hemlock Wooly Adelgids, White Flies, aphids and beetles and Greyhound Insecticides which controls beetles, caterpillars, mites and nematodes (prevents Pine Wilt disease). Their systemic fungicide products include Shepherd Fungicide that treats Anthracnose, Diplodia Tip Blight, Dutch Elm disease, Crabapple disease, Oak Wilt disease and other conifer and leaf diseases and Whippet Fungicide that controls phytophthora spp. and Pythium diseases, Sudden Oak Death and Beech Decline. Their plant growth regulator products consist of Mastiff which reduces tree growth up to 70% over three years including stem elongation and wood formation and Pinscher used on ornamental trees to reduce flowering and fruit/seeds production decreasing cleanup and turf maintenance problems without comprising tree health. Their micronutrients product line improves tree health, promotes leaf growth and relieves symptoms of iron cholorosis, manganese deficiency and drought and transplant stress.

ArborSystems provides a variety of tree injection systems and insecticides, fungicides, antibiotics, micronutrients and tree growth regulators designed to meet a broad range of tree care needs. They are known for their tree-friendly Pointer Insecticide that has been credited with saving thousands of Ash trees from Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) since 2002 as documented by Michigan State University. All of the Wedgle’s hardware components are made in the United States. For more information, visit http://www.ArborSystems.com.
