The following are pets up for adoption at the Humane Society of Madison County.

Bhasvar Hi, I’m Bhas. My full name is Bhasvar which means shining in Sri Lankan. I am a 1-year-old blue nose pitbull, and I weigh 43 pounds. I came to the shelter through no fault of my own. I am a very sweet, happy, bouncy boy who loves attention. I try my very hardest to keep my kennel clean and be the bestest boy possible. I love to go on walks, play with toys, and lovingly stare at you with my big beautiful eyes while you tell me how good I am.

I am young, so I am pretty energetic and might accidentally knock down small children. So, a home with older kids who have experience with dogs would probably be best. While I like to play with dogs who are nice to me, I should really go to a home where there aren’t any dogs. I like to be the center of attention when I am hanging out with my family.

When it comes to cats, I am just way too energetic for them (or so I am told), so a home with no cats would be best. I would also love a big yard with a privacy fence so we can play fetch and run around together before we go and cuddle on the couch for movie night.

Please come meet me and make me your forever companion. I swear I’ll repay it with a lifetime full of love and slobbery kisses.

Adoption fees for dogs vary: shelter dogs are $180, prison dogs are $250, puppies are $300, and popular pure-breeds are $400. The price includes: a Home Again microchip, set of shots, deworming, heartworm testing (if old enough), spay or neuter, and a one-year rabies shot (if old enough). All dogs adopted must leave with a county license at an additional cost of $17; this fee is cash only. Adoption fees can be paid by cash or credit card.

Willow This small, beautiful girl was a shy at the shelter and has had the wonderful opportunity to go to a foster home where they had this to say about her:

“Willow is officially out of the shy, new foster phase and is zooming around the house with her favorite mouse in her mouth. She is a goofy, little thing that makes us laugh daily with her antics. Her favorite things are bossing the dogs around to get in the proper position for her to rub under their chins, eating her morning wet food while getting her morning scratches, scratching on her scratching posts, racing the dogs up the stairs to go to bed before them, and soaking up some sun rays while bird watching.

“She is great around cat-friendly dogs and would likely be super happy to have a kitty friend to play with, as well. She always uses the litter box and thinks it is funny to watch the water bottle bubble (she is a great water drinker). She doesn’t like to be picked up and she doesn’t like the vacuum, like most cats. She likes our 5-year-old son. They play together often, and she particularly likes the ‘houses’ he builds her. She loves to look out the sliding glass door, but hasn’t tried to get outside. It’s more like she wants to be hanging out with the family when we go outside or to watch her kitty tv on the bird channel.”

Even though she was shy at the shelter Willow showed a lot of interest in the other kitties and loved to watch them romp and play around the adoption room. She just never had the opportunity to come out and play with them. But just like what the foster family thinks, the shelter staff thinks she would do just fine with other cats with proper introductions. She has an estimated birthday of Aug. 9, 2020, and she loves to be brushed and groomed. If you would like to come and meet Willow, fill out an application and the staff will arrange a time for you to meet her at the shelter.

The adoption fee is $80 for kittens up to 6 months old and $60 for cats 7 months and older. It includes: a FeLV/FIV test, spay or neuter, set of shots, deworming, and a one-year rabies shot (if old enough). Fees can be paid by cash or credit card.

• WagFest at Prairie Oaks Metro Park, Darby Bend Lakes Area, 2755 Amity Rd., Hilliard, on Aug. 27 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
